How To Install Enb Fallout 4

We are here today to take a look at ENB0.287 for Fallout 4.Now this is a milestone release for ENB because it introduces the first visual effect of ENB series for Fallout 4, and that is: depth of field. If you're interested in how to install ENB, or how to configure ENBoost, please see my other videos on those subjects.If some of you are wondering why have not made a new ENB video in some time, much of my time has gone into creating the Ojo Bueno Nuka-Cola Machine retexture, which is now available on the NexusMods.com website. Depth of field is an effect that simulates properties of a lens, such that subjects at which the camera is pointed appear crisp and clear, while subjects out of this area appear blurred and out of focus. So let's take a look at the new features of ENB 0.287 starting off with how to enable the new depth of field effect.
First we're going to open our in-game menu by hitting Shift-Enter, and here in the 'Effect' section, you'll see a new entry for 'Enable Depth of Field'. You're going to want to click this to enable the effect, and then, over in our Shader Parameters window, open the 'Depth of Field' section and select 'Example DoF' from the dropdown menu.
And you'll see we have a number of parameters here we can use to adjust the depth of field. I'll go ahead and change the 'blur max range' to 2, and then close my ENB menu.Now we can see that when I focus on the wall, the background has gone blurry; and when I focus on the distance, objects in the foreground are blurry. As I approach the gas pump, note that the background is clear, but the closer I get, the background becomes more and more out of focus. This may be difficult to fully appreciate in a YouTube video due to compression, and is best experienced first-hand, but hopefully the quality of the video is sufficient to give you a sense of the effect. Now, the depth of field effect provided with ENB 0.287 is just a sample effect provided by the creator of ENB, Boris Vorontsov. As such, we can look forward to seeing new alternate versions of depth of field effects provided by ENB modding community, similar to those that are now available for games like Skyrim.
One benefit of using ENB's depth of field effect over similar effects provided by other plugins, such as ReShade, is that ENB has more 'awareness' of the game world and graphical elements.As such, the graphical user interface and heads-up display (HUD) are not affected by the depth of field, making it entirely playable. So it's no problem to open up the Pip-Boy and check your inventory, for example.

And, when shifting focus from near to far, and vice versa, the heads-up display is unaffected. So I'm not yet familiar with all of the parameters available for the depth of field, but I can show you a few simple steps to customize the effect to suit your taste. The two main parameters we want to look at are 'Aperture Size' and 'DoF Blur Max Range'. Now, I'm not a photographer, so I 'm not entirely sure how these work in reality, but I can tell you how they work in effect.
Lowering the 'aperture size' effectively increases the intensity of the effect, whereas the 'blur max range' determines the overall amount of blurring for out-of-focus objects.Feel free to experiment with the other parameters to see if they bring you results that you enjoy. I will continue to learn about these myself, and will share my findings with all of you. Now, there are some minor issues with the depth of field effect. For example, some out-of focus objects 'shimmer' as the game's antialiasing effect wrestles with the depth of field blur.
Notice in this scene, as the gas pup in the background goes out of focus, shimmer artifacts begin to emerge. This issue is relatively minor, and hopefully will be addressed as the ENB modding community develops new depth of field effects to use with ENB for Fallout 4. Anoth issue occurs when playing in 3rd-person; as the player character can appear out of focus (as shown here), because they are not positioned in the center of the camera. Hopefully this issue will also be resolved with new versions of the depth of field effect, or, as with previous Bethesda games, players will be able to use a mod that positions the player character at the center of the camera. Meanwhile, simply zooming the camera out as far as it will go in 3rd person helps reduce the effect of this issue.Alright folks! That's it for today.
