The doom series is similar to evil dead because the 1st one was mainly focused on horror and the second one is the most remembered one that changes focus from horror to over the top action. Much like how when most people think of evil dead they think of over the top action and one liners, people mostly think of doom as a rip and tear action game. In both cases this is due to the second in the series.
